Old furniture often has a special hand-made quality that you just don’t get from mass-produced modern furniture, which is why antiques are so popular (and sometimes expensive). The problem is that old furniture is often so worn out that its damage negates any of the positive qualities it may have. Old wooden chairs: With old wooden chairs, use a fine-grained sandpaper to smooth out all the rough patches, and then use either a finish or a paint color of your choosing to make the chair look good as new.
