Planting a tree in your yard is one of the best ways to beautify your home while contributing to the overall greenness of the neighborhood. Although we tend to think of trees as large, robust plants that don’t need much human encouragement in order to grow tall, young trees are a different story. The first few years of a young tree’s life can be precarious, and a little bit of encouragement can be exactly what they need.


1. Plant at the right time: If you plant your tree during the late spring or summer, the heat can cause the young tree to die. Plant during the fall or very early spring so that your tree has time to become strong before facing the summer heat.
