When debris gets trapped in the gutter, it can cause water to overflow, which in turn can cause damage to both the roof and the wall. Thus, it’s always a good idea to clean out your gutters at least once a year. If you have a lot of trees around your home and have had a particularly rainy season, you may even want to clean out the gutters more often than that. If you haven’t cleaned yours in a while, set aside an afternoon and follow these steps.
Step 1: Use a ladder to get up to the roof. Hang a bucket or a trash bag from the top of one of the legs, and also attach a hose to the top. With the ladder, be careful not to lean it on the gutter. Lean it against a solid wall.
