Although doorbells are very simple mechanisms, it can be frustrating when they stop working properly as it can be difficult to locate the source of the problem. In most cases, however, you don’t need to call in a professional repair person. Unless your doorbell is completely busted and needs replacement, you should be able to fix it yourself. Troubleshoot your faulty doorbell by trying these solutions.
Check the button. After shutting off the power to the area of your home that contains the doorbell, carefully pull the button from the wall and check the wires. Are they properly connected? If not, tighten the connections and wrap them in electrical tape. Also, you might want to clean out any dust or grime that has built up on the inside of the doorbell.
