If you have an old deadbolt that’s on its last legs or simply want to make your door more secure, installing a deadbolt is a pretty easy task. It’s simply a matter of taking out the old one and attaching the new one. Follow these simple steps to install your new lock.


Step 1: Remove the old lock by taking out the screw on the inside panel. There won’t be any screws on the outside of the door, as this would present a security risk. Once you have the screws out, you should be able to remove the lock by pulling on the front and back sides simultaneously. After the panels are out, you’ll likely see an internal lock mechanism with additional screws.
